Our culinary team returns seasonally to join the executive chef and combines years of experience from other outstanding seasonal restaurants and resorts in Maine, Vermont, and Jamaica.
The Rose Garden is well known in Bar Harbor, Maine as a fine dining restaurant providing excellent food, a wide selection of the finest wines, and superb service. The cuisine is Contemporary American Regional. The restaurant is a very popular destination for special occasions, and for diners looking for big city quality with a quaint atmosphere in Bar Harbor.
For the 2008 season, we are very pleased to introduce Executive Chef Arturo Montes. Chef Montes' experience is extensive and his cuisine exceptional beginning 29 years ago in some of the finest restaurants in greater Chicago. Before moving to Maine in 1993, he excelled through the culinary ranks culminating with the executive chef position at prestigious Blushes Restaurant in Northfield, Illinois. In Maine, he expanded his culinary repertoire, and with his wife, established the only catering service in the state specializing in authentic international and fine cuisine. At The Rose Garden Chef Montes will strengthen and enhance Bar Harbor's best contemporary American regional menu with an unmatched international influence honed through nearly three decades of experience. In Chef Montes' kitchen, "The highest quality ingredients and the most skilled preparation are not only essential, they are requirements." We are absolutely thrilled with the prospects! The Rose Garden Restaurant Menu
Since 1999, The Rose Garden has served an excellent “Three Course Prix Fixe Menu”, which was expanded in 2004 to include a spectacular “Five Course Tasting Menu”. In 2008, Chef Montes will continue the à la carte option to complement the prix fixe menus and accommodate those who desire a lighter dining experience. Additionally, the three course menu will consist of one entree selection and the remaining two selections may come from any other portion of the menu, (to accommodate those not desiring dessert). The chef will change the menu frequently to enhance your dining experience and ensure availability of the finest and freshest ingredients in his culinary masterpieces.
The Rose Garden Wine List
At the restaurant our belief is that the wine selection is as important as the food we present on our menu. The perfect choice of wine with a meal is very important to create a “memorable” dining experience for our guests.
For this reason, we carefully select wines for their quality, relative value, and most importantly, their compatibility with our cuisine. The wine list has grown over the years to more than 300 selections served by the bottle or by the glass from our unique inert wine dispensing system. In addition to numerous wines from California and other areas of the United States, we have extraordinary selections from France, Italy, Australia, Spain, Germany, Austria, New Zealand, Argentina and Chile. Our eighth consecutive Wine Spectator Award is well deserved.

Dinner is served from 5:30 to 9:30pm. We suggest dressy-casual attire. Jackets are not required for gentlemen. Children, under the age of eleven, are welcome to dine at the Rose Garden 5:30 pm seating.

Delicious breakfast fare is available daily from 6:30 to 10:30am at the Rinehart Wonder View restaurant located a short walk, (or a quick golf cart ride), and a little further up the hill. The Rinehart boasts Bar Harbor’s most spectacular restaurant view of beautiful Frenchman Bay.
